Synthesis presented practical regional applications of New
Urbanism at the New York Planning Federation Conference in
Saratoga Springs, NY. Making the presentation, Ian Law, RLA,
and Michael Hale, RLA, ASLA, CPESC, provided a review of New
Urbanist principles, discussed differences between New Urbanist
applications in the northeast as compared with other regions,
and how and why a New Urbanist template can be applied (and
misapplied). The presentation was concluded by the presentation
of a successful case study and a vision for the future.
