Synthesis, working with project leader River Street Planning & Development, is creating a Waterfront Redevelopment Action Plan for the City of Ogdensburg, New York. The City is located along the St. Lawrence River and has a long history as a commercial and industrial center and today successfully combines a unique mix of urban amenities and rural charm.

Our redevelopment plan is action-oriented, designed to bring business and job growth into this formerly industrial area near the waterfront. The plan integrates development with the preservation of historically significant buildings and emphasizes mixed use and integrated green space in the downtown waterfront area. A key component of our plan is a visitor center designed to reflect Ogdensburg's history as a port city and its contemporary waterfront personality. Synthesis has developed conceptual plans for the development of seven distinct areas along the waterfront in the City of Ogdensburg. These areas are:

Each area is conceived as unique in design and function, yet all focus on the waterfront with linkages from the waterfront to the inland community. One focus of this plan is enhancing opportunities for tourism through a variety of venues while enhancing the environment for local residents.
