Working with the residents and officials of Auburn, Synthesis created a conceptual plan for downtown improvements that will reconnect the City with its waterfront, promote economic development, and encourage pedestrian and bicyclist activity.
The plan weaves together the varied parts of Auburn’s downtown, providing green spaces throughout the area, as well as new economic opportunities. The plan includes a new urban center and green space in the City Hall and central business district area and streetscape improvements to Genesee Street, defining this significant street with pedestrian-friendly crossings, plantings, and street furniture.
The new Owasco Riverfront Park and Riverwalk system will recreate the City’s relationship to the river, with multi-level pedestrian walkways providing convenient access to the river. The existing Loop Road is reduced to two-lanes, slowing traffic and converting the new open space into a circular walk and bikeway.
Additional improvements include reconstruction of the downtown malls, streetscape improvements along the North Street/South Street corridor, and creation of RiverTech Park.
