The Conservatory Restaurant, restaurant overlooking pond

Located within a suburban commercial area and adjacent to an office complex, The Conservatory Restaurant site was conceptualized to enhance the quality of life for local residents, visitors and business people. The project provided a social gathering and dining area in a park-like setting that necessitated enhancement of the adjacent storm water management area that was once clogged with sand and debris from years of neglect. Following the re-sculpting and sediment removal, a circuitous trail system was incorporated that provided aesthetic overlooks and resting points as well as interpretive signage that provided an educational element.

The restaurant, now operating under a new name, remains as a popular gathering place for local residents and business people. The trails and overlooks continue to set the stage for visitors, as they seek refuge from a busy day or set out to observe the daily activities of indigenous wildlife species.

Michael D. Hale, RLA, Synthesis’ Director of Environmental Planning, oversaw the design and construction of the pond, trail system and overlooks while under the employ of his previous firm.
