Synthesis renovated this turn-of-the-century office
building into a 23-room hotel, conference center, and upscale bar and lounge.
Many of the building’s original features were restored from the 1920s.
Although much of the original interior ornament had been removed, the building
boasted several unique design features, including a nearly-intact cast iron
and brick facade, an original wrought iron elevator cage, an original cast
and wrought iron stairway, and a decorative plaster ceiling discovered during
construction. These design features were salvaged and restored or recreated
where necessary. Interior spaces throughout the building were also redesigned
with interior finishes, furnishings, and artwork selected by Synthesis.
The Parker Inn won the 2002 Award for Outstanding
Appearance from the Schenectady County Chamber of Commerce.
