Synthesis has expanded its relationship with the Schenectady City School District to continue renovating and improving their existing facilities and to study two options for acquiring more space for an expanding base of school age children. This project leverages special EXCEL funds in a way that allows the District to provide $48.2 million dollars of improvements without increasing taxes. The cost of the interest on the capital bond is being offset by increased energy savings from the improvements we are proposing, specifically replacing inefficient boilers and replacing the remaining existing roofs on the District’s aging buildings.

Synthesis has prepared a master plan for the High School including ornamental campus security fencing, creating new secure entrances, and athletic improvements featuring a new synthetic field. We are also planning classroom additions at 2 elementary schools. And in an exciting preliminary study, we are planning a major P-16 initiative, exploring the synergies of a downtown P-8 Arts Magnet school in concert with a major regional Performing Arts provider as well as with a local college. Students will then feed into the successful Arts School program at Schenectady High.
