Synthesis designed the renovation of the former Brown School, located in the historic General Electric Realty Plot, into a new 60-child capacity daycare center. Synthesis worked with the owner and local building code officials to prepare a New York State Building Code Variance Application to address code deficiencies, common in historic structures.

An addition for stairways and a handicapped ramp were designed to complement the historic character of the building. The design required reviews by the Schenectady Historic District Commission.
