Synthesis proposed an addition to Hamilton Elementary School within its existing courtyard to minimize impact on program spaces. The addition was constructed with exterior stone and brick details that replicate the historic detailing of the original building, reducing the visual impact of the new construction.

The new addition provides bathroom facilities on each floor and incorporates an elevator for handicap accessibility to all levels of the building. An accessible ramp to the lower level was also provided.

Interior finishes were selected for durability and designed to create places of character in scale with the children’s environment.

Additionally, a new playground was installed with the assistance of local fund raising efforts.
